Seeing Color in a B & W World

4 Comments You may have noticed I'm sharing a lot of black and white images lately. I find winter time the perfect season for black & white. The contrast of the snow to just about everything is perfect for my high contrast b & w. That said, I've also been playing with selective color and saturation.

It's kind of fun drawing attention to a specific part of an image. It draws the eyes right in. I love the above picture. There is something powerful in the saying "Travel at your own risk".
Shortly after this image, I found out that the Minimum Maintenance means no snow clearing. The road was impassable and forced me to back track a few miles. No big deal. I'll ride this route another time.
I find having fun with digital images is much like exploring on my bike. I wonder where that road leads me? I wonder what this slider bar does to the image? I like to experiment. You just never quite know what you'll see.

I have noticed. You're getting good at it too Gnat. I have spent many hours playing around in Photoshop many times.......usually just doing nothing in the end but having a great time regardless.
You're right, sometimes you never know what you'll see and that's what's so great about it. Like riding bikes, possiblilities are endless.
Love the images!
I agree "Travel at own risk" always sounds daunting. That picture reminded me of something we had to drive by every day while working a few years ago on Vancouver Island. I found the picture and thought you might find it amusing, here's a link:
