About this website

This site is a visual and verbal diary of my world. My world is filled with bikes, family and images. I like bikes and I like cameras. I like the way they go together. Joy for me comes when I can capture an image that shows the true feeling of riding. Images here are often experiments and explorations of color, tone and texture. NCC's Gravel Metric in Pictures

I won't ruin today's post with words other than to give a little context. I went down to NCC's Gravel Metric with my coworker Rich.  Why? Well....Good people, gravel and bikes. I don't really need to say much else. I also wanted to ride it as a nice tune up to Kanza.  It was a crazy day. It started with food and ended in crazy weather and flooding. While I controled my effort, what effort I did put out was more than I wanted to put out the week before Kanza. But what are you supposed to do when you are out there and committed? You just do what it takes.  I hit every checkpoint and finished strong. I also got a few pics I really like, but I put my camera away for good at about mile 35-40. Just too much rain, wind, hail and at times lightning...Oh and then flooding. With that, here is my day in pictures. Hope you enjoy the pics.

That's the last of my images from the ride. My camera stopped focusing on this last shot. I still like it anyway as it really gives the mood of the day. After this shot, I put my camera away and it really started raining, blowing, lightning and then hailing (although I missed the hail).

I was pretty stoked to be a participant and supporter of this event. Tobie and the NCC crew do an amazing job and I met some great people. Very creative too and I can't wait to see next year's promotional video.  Tobie and the NCC gang if you read this, I think the inspiration for next year's video will be an Ark with Ari leading cyclists on board two by two.

Thank you. Until next time.

Wow, what a crazy ride! I hope the DK200 is NOTHING like that.

Jealous. Looks like a grand time (in pictures and after the fact).

I love the photo of the 2 crossing the water. Looks like it could be from any cycling era.

Wow, sounds like you guys had quite the weather! Maybe the conditions at Almanzo weren't so bad...

Okay, I thought my metric yesterday was rough. (Check the link for a report if you wish.)

You win. Hands down.

Captivating shots, as always!

I've never been to the midwest. The landscape looks captivating. The black and white. Soft curve of the stubble. Strong line of the road. Endless horizon. Thank you

Thanks for coming down and riding/supporting the Dtown crew. Definitely a memorable ride, the el mar was the right choice for the day for sure. Glad to have met you and good luck with Kanza this weekend.
